If you're feeling blue about rejection(s), you should know that there are at least 5 pieces we said no to in the last year at JMWW that I still think about. That I regret saying no to. That I saw at other pubs and went, "Oh shit! Our loss!"

My 12yo was involved in a hit-and-run after play practice and my 75yo dad chased the car down (JFC DAD) and my kid took a photo, ran the plates (lol), got the make and model, and told the cop everything.

The average college professor is an adjunct, actually. Making maybe 3-4K a class/semester. Without benefits. Teaching full-time, that means 20K-24K a year.

Friends, it's important to remember that some pieces take a long time to find homes. Some of my 2020 pieces, including 2 that were nominated for awards, were from the year before and had tons of rejections, been reworked, been cried over, etc.
You just keep going.
