White philadelphians were notorious for destroying black neighborhoods and targeting black children with violence in the years before the civil war and many were angered by the number of fugitive slaves coming to their city but hey, centrist fanfic is more important than facts

I'm Doing The Work and reading Angela Davis's Are Prisons Obsolete. It starts with the gobsmacking claim that anti-slavery was a fringe position until the Civil War. This would be a surprise to Pennsylvania, which outlawed slavery in 1780.

So keep that in mind when you engage with them about politics. And maybe question this fundamental, very wrong view they have of it. Also NEVER TRUST someone who happily describes themselves as a "politics junkie".

Perhaps the one good thing about this presidency will be that Americans finally rid themselves of the lie that objectivity, love of democracy or respect for law originate in and are key components of whiteness.

Why is there an argument that the slightest verbal criticism can turn white people to nazism (according to some) but centuries of systematic racism, denying healthcare, housing & education is supposed to make black people love, respect & want to communicate w/ white ppl even more

These are the types of ppl who always call for civility, who will always, always tell you that disrupting any sort of "peace" is worse than whatever offense someone has done to you. They know history well, so they know, in theory, the concept of unjust law/

“A self-described “numbers guy,” Mr. Yang left the group’s budget depleted...In 2017, when he left to run for president, the nonprofit spent $2.6 million more than it raised, ending the year with only about a month’s worth of cash in reserves.”

What we are seeing is what happens when your top political advisors are not ideologues or activists or even people who have consistently won elections. This is what happens when your loudest advisors come from corporate management consulting.
