Freedom House annual report downgraded India from being 'free' to 'partly free'. India's score has been declining for the past three years, resulting in this change of status.

We shd take @_YogendraYadav 's points seriously. ADR report documents % MLAs with criminal cases ⬆️ frm 34% in 2015 to 61% this time. % of crorepatis ⬆️ substantially as well. Brief look at the % ⬆️ in the asset of relected MLAs tell you how AAP has shftd from its initial pltfrm.

This second victory of AAP is not a realisation of its original promise.Instead,it confirms that this new player has learned the rules of the game better than the older players..that you don’t need a new model of governance or vision to succeed. My article

@deepak_malghan @sharanidli Thanks Deepak. Your concern is valid. I wish I had polling station level demographic composition of voters to directly address your point. The cumulative evidence nonetheless makes it hard to ignore the overall patterns.

A fascinating and insightful critique by @KatharinaPistor of Piketty's book Capitalism and Ideology. She reminds us that while ideas are imp, legal instns historically have played a major role in shaping generation and persistence of wealth inequality.

@random_walker @a_m_mastroianni The gatekeepers are vested in the current system because they derive rent from it. This makes it harder to move away and experiment with alternate models. Also, wanted to know if the review process for conf proceedings works better than journals and, if yes, then why?
