The trend among urbanites to relocate to rural areas will only expand in the future, forecasts Professor Susanne Klien, author of Urban Migrants in Rural Japan. The shift is among younger generations and women, she said on September 22nd.
Attorney Kaku Imamura is talking about Japan's “hostage justice” system. He points out that detention is used almost as torture to get confessions from suspects and it is nearly impossible to get a fair trial (often due to false confessions resulting from prolonged detention).

Shiori Ito, who won a civil case against a former TBS reporter for rape, says none of us should be a victim, bystander or perpetrator. She encourages others to speak up; not just victims, but others who may know something as that voice can help.
Lastly, to the international community, there are too many examples of children suffering despite the fact that Japan has ratified the convention for rights of children. "I would like Japan to be a place where children's rights are protected, and victims' rights are protected."
