This young badger was found in a trap yesterday afternoon in one of the new Devon cull zones. Cage-trapping rules state that badgers must be killed by noon but this badger was found at 4.30pm, curled up in the cage looking exhausted. Needless to say, the pixies freed the badger.

We are busy with the badger cull but still finding time to keep tabs on the hunts. Yesterday morning we caught the Eggesford Hunt meeting at Higher Crabdown Farm north of Ashreigney. With us there they didn't even unbox the hounds but just stood around for an hour then went home.

During our visit to the Stevenstone Hunt on 06.01.24 we were shocked to witness the Kennel Huntsman/Whip Sean Watts try to jump a half fallen gate, the gate collapsed, with the horses legs becoming trapped within the bars.
It's a miracle the horse escaped without a broken leg.

Last Friday we paid a surprise visit to the Eggesford Hunt. The growing local opposition to this hunt is really noticeable. We were stopped and thanked several times at this meet, one person giving us a donation, others offering lifts throughout the day.
