After last night's game, Kamren Curl is now the highest graded safety in the league by PFF with an overall grade of 82.6. The No. 2 safety? Darrick Forrest with a grade of 81.7.
The Commanders had their first practice of OTAs today, and it was the first chance to see Sam Howell as QB1 and Emmanuel Forbes getting reps against Terry McLaurin. Here are my observations from earlier today
Washington safeties Kam Curl and Darrick Forrest continue to put up impressive numbers for PFF. Curl is still the top graded player in his position (84.5), while Forrest has moved up to 4th (82.1).
Forrest also has the best cover grade among safeties (85.8)
Good morning. Sam Howell is:
- 10th in passing yards (501)
- 11th in passing touchdowns (3)
- 6th in completion percentage among QBs with at least 70 pass attempts (65.7%)
I’m fine with Jonathan Taylor getting all this MVP talk as long as people are willing to admit that Derrick Henry should have gotten way more attention than he did last year after literally rushing for 2,000 yards on an 11-5 team
Landon Collins ends the first team’s red zone drills with an interception in the end zone. Is anyone else pumped to see what he does in the regular season?

's life changed forever when he was drafted by the
#Redskins
in 2019, and his rookie season brought plenty of unforgettable experiences. This is his story, in his own words.
The Commanders have two of the best performing safeties in the league, according to Pro Football Focus' metrics. Kam Curl leads the position with an overall grade of 84.5, while Darrick Forrest is fifth with an 80.9
Washington just started the season 1-0 with a 27-17 win over the Eagles. There's a lot to cover in this game. I'll have takeaways from today's game shortly. Wild game.
Ron Rivera opens the presser by saying Taylor Heinicke will be the starting quarterback in place of Ryan Fitzpatrick, who will be placed on Injured Reserve.
Heinicke said Carson Wentz has been a great teammate since he arrived in Washington. He and several other of his teammates will be at Wentz’s house for Thanksgiving
Haskins just had his first drop of the day, but he was 13-13 before that. In red zone drills, he had TDs to Baugh and Inman. Inman had to work for the catch, but it was put in a spot where only he could make it.
A few positives this Monday morning:
- Terry McLaurin is 7th in receiving yards (354)
- Cole Holcomb is 4th in tackles (41)
- The offensive line is 2nd in sacks allowed (4)
- DeAndre Carter leads the NFL in KR yards (333) and is 2nd in avg yards per return 27.75
Jack Del Rio addressing the media. Said Jeremy Reaves is a pro, been on point and been anxious all year to play. He's excited to get on the field. He's all in, and Del Rio loves the way he prepares.
Sammis Reyes will be on the gameday roster today, making him the first Chilean-born player in NFL history to be active on Sunday. Incredible to think Reyes was working with DoorDash and pursing his dream last year. Now he's suited up and ready to play. Truly inspirational.
Carson Wentz just delivered a really pretty pass to Jahan Dotson near the right sideline. Dotson made the leap and hauled it on before stepping out of bounds
Cosmi has gotten much better at working against Montez Sweat. Basically let Sweat run the loop around the quarterback. It’s been encouraging to watch him improve.
John Bates just caught a contested pass with Kendall Fuller all over him. I keep saying it and I’ll say it again: Bates is going to surprise some people.
Terry McLaurin is 32 yards away from passing Jordan Reed on Washington's all-time receiving yards list, which would place him 13th in franchise history.
Cam Sims has had some quality reps the past two days. A lot of his targets have been contested, but he keeps coming down with them. He gets a lot of cheers when he makes a catch, too. A reminder that the former UDFA is still a fan favorite.
