The sacrifice,blood sweat and tears this kid has put in to this game is unbelievable. They don’t make em like you anymore
@PJWashington
hell of a season with mature/growth you have displayed all year. Better days ahead ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽🐐

I know I may sound crazy but more high school & college coaches need to spend less time going over plays and teach players how to actually play in practice. Running set play calls everytime down takes away from your teams natural ability at times on offense
Moving without the ball is a lost art. Every NBA player I asked who is the hardest person to guard, most reply Steph Curry with out the ball in his hands. Kids need to understand spacing and cutting with pace.
I always teach the importance of awareness and floor spacing. Being a great playmaker has a lot to do with where you are on the floor and how you set up your primary defender to create angles and break down helpside defense. Know your kill zones

These youth tournaments charging $30-$50 for entry fee need to make sure they’re hiring people to work the scores table. If a parent is paying that much to watch their child, no way they should have to volunteer to do somebody job. Stop being Cheap.
There is details in the details. On floaters I work with
@TyreseMaxey
on backboard all net or front rim all net makes for it to count. Everything has to be perfect to translate. Technique and body control is the key to having great touch around the rim.

He holds numerous NCAA records, including as highest scoring average in a season (44.5 in 1969-70), most points in a career (3,667) and most points in a season (1,381 in 1969-70). 2. He scored 50 in more points 28 times in the NCAA, and scored 40 or more 56 times. He once scored

-Defense is taught to mirror the ball with their hands. When you’re on offense it’s important to focus on ball placement to get the defender out their stance.
Players: getting over your fear of making mistakes in a game isn’t easy. Best advice I can give is, Catch and go. Be aggressive, attack the paint 1 out of your 3 first touches in a game attack the paint and make the read. Every great player plays through mistakes.

Always let the work do the talking 💭
Rhythm is essential along with timing when shooting off the dribble.
Like I always say. Pace creates space.
@wemby
I did a series of skills training sessions on off ball movement and lost almost every client, learning how to play b-ball without the ball is something a lot of kids aren’t interested in lol 😂
There is nothing more important in your development than playing pick up. That’s the piece of the game that should be fun, working on your craft building your confidence by trial and error in a 5 on 5 environment. There is no penalty for mistakes in pick up. Pick up is a priority
All players should understand the importance of getting open. There are so many tricks and techniques to work the defender to your advantage. Learn how to use your body as leverage and create some sort of close out. Work smart, and be creative.
@Original_Turner
Important for players to work on their pivots with pace.
Using fake passes and utilizing your hips to get a better feel will help read your defender. Great way to manipulate the defense and get them off balance
@Original_Turner
On behalf of everyone in Texas, we need to demand a shot clock in High School basketball games. Makes absolutely no sense not to have one. If we are really trying to get these kids ready for the “next level” do the right thing and add the clock.
@uiltexas
Preparation prevents piss poor performance. Note to kids they are working out before a game. This is what pros do, no excuses to say “I can’t workout I have a game today”
Play with pace, once you move the defender and get them off balance with a quick dribble keep your feet moving and you will create a angle everytime.

Separate yourself from negative people as quickly as possible. We all go through things but if people around u aren’t optimistic and can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, addition by subtraction is the best way to go. Keep your balance with a strong circle around you ⚫️
Been saying it for along time, but the world has caught up with the USA in basketball. We really need to reevaluate things in this country. Skill set will always be overridden by knowing how to actually play bball from a tactical standpoint. We need to teach players how to play.
As an Adult one of the most important things you need is a hobby. Something to do outside of your norm and occupation that can keep you sane. Something you really enjoy doing.
Watch Villanova footwork. All players 1-5 can create off the dribble. Pump fakes jabs off the catch, triple threat. Players feet are always set on the catch and allow them to shoot high percentage shots.

“The Process”
Big difference between working out & developing. Build in progressions & with quality reps. Details always matter. Foot placement, hip rotation, catching the ball in the shot pocket, dropping the shoulders, all this for a catch & shoot.
@PJWashington
@chefVOYardee
Mind over matter, you have to play chess while the defense is playing checkers. Love having conversations with players during workouts to talk about details and different concepts to translate in the game.

If I told you how we got here you wouldn’t believe us. When I met
@devinthelab
we both couldn’t even afford a bologna sandwich lol. To see him doing what he does & to link up at the NBA draft yrs later really goes to show that hard work & persistence is proof your life can change
If you’ve ever played basketball or coached, the game becomes apart of you. As I get older I realize how much I respect the game on so many levels. It’s been a compass in life for me. Kids need to know this 🏀 can introduce you to some great people & opportunities
Remember 90% of the dribble moves you work on you will never use in a game. Your best bet to develop the quickest as a player- know what your good at and build off that, play against bodies to work on reaction, understand concepts like - P&R, Pindowns, DHO, etc.

Your ability to separate from the competition is in the power of consistency and patience. New levels will have new devils. It’s even harder once you reach success to maintain it. Reinventing yourself is key to longevity in anything you do. 📖💯
I don’t think people really understand how hard it is to make it to the NBA. A lot of evaluators/people don’t pay enough attention to the variables off the court along with the mindset that has to be developed to really make it.
NBA leaders in assists this season
1.) Trae Young 741
2.) Nikola Jokic 668
3.) James Harden 618
4.) Tyrese Haliburton 585
Trae leads the NBA by a country mile in assists 🤣🤣🤣
I be telling all guards I work with to reject 70% of ball screens especially in transition on a secondary break, sets the tone and keeps the defense off balance. Opens up every thing in the Pick & Roll
RJ Barrett has 16 FG attempts and 0 assists, all I am saying is it’s important to know how to make plays for others to get your self going. That’s one way to be more efficient
Attacking the gaps off the lift. Moving without the ball is a skill in it self. Understand where you want to go with the ball before you get the ball. Simple logic but effective if you read the defense.
@edotcash
There is a BIG difference between developing and working out. Off season is where you can expand your game, but you have to have a actual plan on what to work on consistently each month.
