The Wisteria Walk’s magnificent purple cultivar ‘Kokuryu’ is now flowering after a much-anticipated wait. The white ‘Kimono’ cultivar is also starting to bloom, meaning that the two combined will provide a spectacular sight in the coming days. #Wisteria

HRH The Duchess of Cambridge joined us at Wisley today to open The Back to Nature Garden. The garden is a place for families and friends to have fun in nature, and is inspired by the gardens co-designed by The Duchess at #RHSChelsea and #RHSHampton .

Beautiful beautyberry - These are two different cultivars of Callicarpa bodinieri (common name = beautyberry) which are in full flow right now. Interestingly, due to the vibrant, almost unnatural colour of the berries, the wildlife tend to avoid them.

In the Walled Garden you can enjoy the tapestry of different evergreen hedges. This isn't just an aesthetic display, there's a good horticultural reason for it too. All these plants are being grown and pruned to see how suitable they may be as hedging plants, as a box alternative

The wait is over - the edgeworthias are in bloom. As you enter the garden, Edgeworthia chrysantha 'Winter Liebe' is full of flower. Sheltered by the Laboratory are fine specimens of the species and the cultivar 'Red Dragon', and more of each are along the Winter Walk. . Stunning!

The iconic Wisley Laboratory is currently adorned with this spectacular Ceanothus arboreus ‘Trewithen Blue’. Ceanothus, or Californian lilac as they’re sometimes known, love a good sunny spot, such as a west or south facing wall.

The new Orchid House in the Glasshouse opens today! For the first time, our vast collection of more than 3,000 #orchids will have their time to shine with hundreds now on display. The display will change throughout the seasons to showcase the different orchids in their prime.

The Bowes-Lyon Rose Garden is surrounded by a sea of violet-blue Camassia, providing a beautiful new view of the area. Camassia produce upright spires of star-shaped flowers in shades of violet-blue, white or pink and appear from late spring to early summer.

Over in The Glasshouse, our Worsleya procera (which has been in our collection since 2008) has flowered for the first time. It’s a tricky plant to cultivate, so we were delighted to see the stunning blue and purple flowers make an appearance this week.
