Busch Gardens Tampa just announced “Phoenix Rising” a new family friendly suspended coaster will open at the park in 2024. This roller coaster will be built by B&M, feature on board audio, go 44 miles per hour and be 1,831 feet long.

I remember rumors on Screamscape thinking “no way, they already have Magnum why this?”. I visited during the offseason and couldn’t believe how huge it was.
The crazy thing is I think it is just as epic today as it was back then.

Scummy move by Six Flags Over Georgia to add a surcharge to all orders.
The chain, and this park, have been doing so much right lately but this isn’t it.
It is really felt on non-meals- as an example it means a bottle water is now $5.98 - a 19.8% increase in price!

We put Chance to sleep today. One hell of a run. We rescued him when he was 1-3ish, and had him for just under 9 yrs.
- 3 theme parks (SFOG, Knoebels, Dino World)
- Visited 11 states
- 4 MLB stadiums (+1 minor league)
- He witnessed a no hitter at one of the MLB games!!

Was able to get on Rise thanks to a friend switching with us, but made it half way thru and got evac’d. Lovely. Giving out a Fast Pass only good tomorrow when I don’t have ticket for tomorrow is perfect solution.

Shame because it’s an excellent coaster.
Kennywood released a statement that Steel Curtain will be closed for all of the 2024 season while the park works on a long term fix to improve its reliability.

For comparison- Q2 income:
SeaWorld: $82 million
Six Flags: $70 million
Cedar Fair -$59 million
Pretty clear why they aren’t opening new rides.

Sure it opened in 2002, but let's rewind to '01. This was the anti-hype coaster. The park literally teased the removal of the ride more than they did for announcing it.
On Sept 27th, 2001 a building permit/demo permit was filled. No strong rumors yet.

Let’s talk Mystic Timbers... I always enjoyed it but it is running better than ever. Last row right at dusk 👌
Easily the best ride in the park, the best GCI and a top ten wood coaster. I take back any statements from previous visits where I didn’t feel that way.

I wouldn’t recommend it. Maybe things have changed but paying for degree in which your professors have you play Roller Coaster Tycoon or take tests on names of Disney parades was a joke. Lots of great stories, made great friends but not much learning.

I filmed this earlier today at SFOG. The park now has these safety stations throughout. And there was also temp security towers with cameras.
But at some point you gotta wonder how much staff or stations or cameras can do when 600 people become unruly.

Here's the cherry on top about Six Flags pricing:
The $0.99 surchage is due to "increased labor and supply costs" however in 2022 they were paying food service "up to $15/hr" now they are paying up to "$12/hr"
So they've gone down in wages but claim labor costs have gone up?

The more people that refuse to buy because the prices are too high, the higher they have to keep cranking prices to eke out profits from the remaining paying suckers, which just exacerbates the cycle.
And it's not like they're paying exorbitant wages either ("up to $12/hr"):

They never lowered our restraints (old Arrow so operator needs to) and train dispatched without restraints done.
But don’t worry they still did “visual scan” and cleared the train. So much for all your scans if you don’t check restraints.
