“They huddled up and 15 kids got screwed in front of 1,000 people. Print that. Print it five times.”
Recapping the surreal scene at Central Regional, where Camden erased a 13-point 4th quarter deficit, Squan won it at the buzzer, then had it taken away.
Griffin Linstra hits this putback to set off a huge celebration but the officials confer and decide it doesn’t count. I thought they might be putting time back on the clock. Looked and sounded good from my seat. Final: Camden 46, Manasquan 45.
Emotional scene at Manasquan as the Warriors win the Shore title over Marlboro 58-56 in OT. Andrew Solomon (20), who lost his father on Feb 9 to COVID, with the winning basket.
Manalapan will be playing with heavy hearts tonight after the sudden passing of a sophomore in its program overnight on Monday. Coach Brian Boyce asked that the name not be reported yet in case loved ones are still being contacted. Deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
Final: Ranney 67, Bergen Catholic 63. Ranney is the 1st Shore Conference school to win a Tournament of Champs. Scottie Lewis 20 points and 11 rebounds, Bryan Antoine 17 points, Phil Wheeler 14 and 6, Ahmadu Sarnor 13 and 6.
I was wondering who was crazy enough to go up for a hip bump with Quenton Nelson until I looked again and realized that is none other than Mike Gesicki.
Please send whatever positive vibes and love you have to spare to Tahj and Carrie Holden and their son Max. They have been through way too much over the past couple of years. Max has learned how to fight so don't count him out.
Bryan Antoine and Scottie Lewis have both been selected to play in the McDonald's All-American Game and will play on opposing teams. They are the first players from the Shore to earn the honor since CBA alum John Crotty in 1987, who was the 1st ever.
Trey Dombroski's Senior Year on the mound: 11-1, 0.37 ERA, 126 K, 5 BB. Throw in a win in the state final and that's rare company in the history of the Shore Conference.
Here the NJSIAA’s response and it is a legitimate admission of error and apology to Manasquan. The rules prevent any overturn of the decision, which was never going to happen, so this is probably the strongest possible alternative.
Daniel Sofield's 59 points for Jackson Liberty tonight are the most by a Shore player in a single game since at least 1990. You might have to track back to Bob Verga's 40 PPG season at St. Rose in the 1960s to find a game that rivals the one Sofield had tonight.
Great video all around here, especially getting the end of the ref conference. You can see that one official was adamant and the other two (including the one who made the call) deferred to him. Could only make out some of what he said. Need some assistance from

Rumson beat Holmdel 63-50. Jack "The Hammer" Velcamp with two of the biggest first-quarter points you'll find anywhere. The team's 4'2" manager got the start on senior night and gave a packed house, including his family, a moment to remember.
For the last 4 years, you couldn't mention one without mentioning the other.

Day-after update: Manasquan filed an appeal to the NJSIAA last night and was denied last night. Still no public comment from the NJSIAA, which is deferring to its contracted PR firm/person. Some additional, morning-after thoughts from Bilodeau.
The end of an era. The most prolific coach in the history of NJ high school baseball and his longtime assistant both coached their last game today. Classy way to say goodbye, which definitely suits them.
As TRS baseball wrapped up today in SJ Group III first round play - we wanted to drop a short message to let everyone know there will be a New Era next year at TRS as Coach Frank and myself will step off the field. Big thanks to our wives, families, players, alumni & supporters!
Some sad news this morning: Legendary CBA Boys Soccer and Tennis coach Dan Keane passed away last night, per his former player and RBR coach Dave Santos. Keane's teams won 1,214 matches and 18 state championships between the two sports. And the nicest man you'll ever meet. RIP.
The pitcher, catcher and batter in this at-bat are all Shore Conference alums. Rare to even get three NJ alums in the same shot in the CWS, let alone the same conference.
Six runs in the top of the sixth sends Toms River East to Williamsport for the 2021 Little League World Series with a 6-3 win over Canal Delaware. TR plays Oaks (Pa.) tomorrow for seeding purposes/region championship. The Beast is still breathing fire.
Manasquan's COVID shutdown in boys basketball at the beginning of the month began as an inconvenience. A week later, it took a tragic turn for two of its players. Now Andrew and Matt Solomon are leaning on basketball and their teammates for support.
Andre Harris with the game-winning tip-in with 2.3 seconds left. Neptune beats Burlington Twp 44-42 to reach the CJ 3 final for the 1st time in 8 years.
Final: No. 3 Manasquan 62, No. 6 Holmdel 59. Squan trailed most of the way but gutted it out against a game Holmdel squad. Nice moment afterward with Manasquan coach Lisa Kukoda and husband Matt, who is the interim Holmdel coach, sharing an embrace.
Ryan Frauenheim is dressed and warming up for Manasquan. He is about 6 months removed from tearing his ACL. He has been cleared for everything but contact.
Unbelievable finish in Middletown. Alex Bogues with a great double save before Danny Minze buries the game-winner with 0.1 second on the clock. Midd South wins 2-1.
Not too many sophomores stake their claim as the best player in the Shore Conference but not too many players are Ben Roy - the 2019-20

Final in CJ 2: Manasquan 36, Rumson 30. Manasquan outscores Rumson 13-0 in the final 2:00 to win its 5th straight sectional title. The zoo is on the floor.
One of the best athletes to ever come out of the Shore hangs em up. People get caught up in Frazier's personality (not a bad thing) but he was a really good big leaguer.

Manasquan wins an overtime thriller over Rumson, 74-73 in the girls Championship Pod quarterfinals to earn a shot at No. 1 SJV. Here is the ice-cold shot by Brooke Hollawell that sent the game to OT (and fired up the boys basketball team, sitting behind the basket).
I don't even know where to start with this game, but it's probably at the end. Andrew Solomon has had a nightmare of a month but Friday was a dream night.
@SquanAthletics
are the champs of the Shore and he is the hero. Video coming in a bit.
Final: St. Rose 73, Montclair Immaculate 29. That was a statement if there ever was one. St. Rose is Non-Public B champion for the 1st time since 1977 and looked every bit the No. 1 team in the state in its last game.
Ben Schild strikes out the side around a walk and Jersey Shore beats Tri-Cape 8-1 to win the Carpenter Cup. Sixth title for Jersey Shore, the most of any Carpenter Cup organization.

Save by Casey Mulligan, behind the back from Kieran Flanagan and two-hand flush by Connor Walsh. Manasquan leads Roselle Catholic 11-7 midway thru the 2nd.
Toms River East Little League wins the Metro Region semifinal on a replay review for the last out at second base. Catcher Ryan McHugh with a money throw. 3-1 win over Fairfield, Conn. Onto the championship Friday vs. Massapequa, NY.

Todd Schmitt has announced he is retiring as head coach of Wall baseball and as a teacher at the high school. Goes out as Group 3 champion after 22 seasons.
BREAKING: Brian Boyce has resigned as the head baseball coach at Manalapan. Boyce spent 14 seasons (15 if you count 2020) as the Braves head coach, during which his team won 3 sectional titles (2011, 12 and 19) and back-to-back Group 4 titles in 2011 and 2012.
Luca Dalatri turned down big money out of high school to go to UNC. Four years later, he got a $20,000 bonus to sign with the Cardinals. Money be damned: the former CBA star is happy, healthy and right where he wants to be.
