Reposting this thread about the charge our D-Day heroes brought home to America.
Today, world leaders thanked the surviving vets who made it to Normandy for what they did there.
Let's also thank them for what they did here for the next 80 years to protect our democracy.
On this Veteran's Day, I'd like to share a letter that a constituent of mine recently found in the papers of her father, a WWII vet. It looks like it was send to all soldiers discharging from the Army at the end of the war. (1)

Democrats historically are the party of fiscal responsibility. Deficits tend to fall under Democrats as the economy booms, and rise under Republicans as it goes into recession.
Further, deficits are about half as much under Democrats as % GDP since WW2.

I enjoyed being back today before the House Foreign Affairs Committee for a hearing on State Department grant programs, though it diverted to the usual theater.
Don't talk tough about securing the border if you refuse for political reasons to pass the bill that does it.

As an NJ Democrat, I'll say thanks for helping us out here! They should absolutely vote for an election denier who is the least likely to win in November and most likely to turn off centrist voters down the ballot.
But as an American, I'd still prefer two normal parties.

My thoughts on Biden’s Gaza speech about what he repeatedly said was an Israeli proposal. A key point is that Israel commits in Phase 2 to ‘cessation of hostilities, permanently’ and to full withdrawal from Gaza, on conditions but without referring to ‘destroying Hamas’. BUT 1/9

It would save Palestinian lives, end the nightmare for the surviving hostages, and turn Israel from a path its own defense minister says is leading it to "the abyss."
The whole world should press Hamas to accept it.
Israel has now offered a roadmap to an enduring ceasefire – and the release of all the hostages.
Yesterday, this proposal was transmitted by Qatar to Hamas.

Yes. This. The deal would require a full cease-fire & withdrawal of all Israeli forces. No occupation. Release of the hostages. An influx of humanitarian aid, including housing. Unless you can identify a poison pill, here, we should all praise this deal.

I think the Supreme Court needs an ethics code and strongly disagree with some of its recent decisions.
But I respect that those decisions are law until overturned by new law. I'm not telling people to stop trusting our legal system or to hate our country.
I do have to say the irony is a bit rich watching people who’ve spent a month trying to discredit the Supreme Court insist we all respect the verdict of a Manhattan court.
