ETUNDA GREEN SCHEME IRRIGATION PROJECT STILL OPERATIONAL
MAWLR strongly condemns misleading claims that production at Etunda Green Scheme Irrigation project came to a standstill and that this Government farm has collapsed. This is void of any truth and is misleading.
COMING SOON: It is the end of the maize season and harvesting has commenced.

Few days ago, our DWSSC team has successfully coordinated the installation of a deep borehole in Oikuku Village in Oshikunde Constituency (Ohangwena Region).
The idea is to drastically reduce the distance travelled by our people to access potable water.

In the past three days, our DWSSC team successfully drilled two boreholes to provide portable water to the Onamatanga & Okaonde Communities. The boreholes will be developed & handed over to the communities. Drilling is continuing in many parts of the country.

You’re celebrating your birthday while navigating through the Otjozondjupa Region doing what you do best.
You’re right. We had very less fleet & the demand is high. But we boosted that, this year we procured 350 tractors (298 already delivered countrywide as of last week).
In few days we’re concluding the training of over 150 drivers so they start serving.

UPDATE ON FLOODING IN THE NORTHERN NAMIBIA-ENDOLA
This morning, during our monitoring drives in Endola, Engela Constituency, Ohangwena, we met Mr Nafitali Hamunyela who explained to our team how fast the floodwater arrived in his village Omandobe in one night.
Our recent Resettlement farms advertised on 13 Oct 2023 closed yesterday 13 Nov 2023.
Tomorrow 15 Nov 2023, we will publish (in the New Era, Namibian Sun & Republikein newspapers) two more available farming units, while we begin evaluating the closed ones.
DRILLING: We are busy drilling boreholes in different areas across the country, with the key objective to sustainably supply potable water 🚰 to all Namibians. In areas where there’re no pipelines, underground water is the most suitable solution.

VANDALISM OF WATER INFRASTRUCTURES
We continue to receive reports of vandalism of community Water points. In areas where each household has private off-takes/taps, community Water points becomes vulnerable to vandalism. Our DWSSC will work on modalities to mitigate this trend.
GOOD NEWS
We have recently bought this brand new drilling rig which arrived in Windhoek last week. At the same time the Ministry is finalizing repair of its old drilling rig (slide 2). We are expecting that by mid February 2022 these two rigs will be in the regions.

Today, we commissioned the newly acquired TH10 LM drilling rig at Ongombo West farm.
The rig can do both air percussion & mud rotary drilling. We will now be able to attend to urgent water supply needs promptly & ensure provision of water supply to our people.
Fight against African Migratory (AML) Locust :
Our spraying teams have to be up as early as 03h00 morning, for effective spraying of the AML in Oshana Region.
In all other regions where we received report of the AML our teams are doing the same as well as monitoring.
