I’m going to be real. Kids have to be ok with going JUCO now. I know it doesn’t sound cool, but this transfer portal is just way too appealing for college coaches. Guys want to get older not younger. I know Instagram won’t like JUCO, but if you got game it will all work out.

HS kids hate catch & shoot 3s. It’s the weirdest thing. They much rather fight a World War 3 to get a shot attempt. Guys feel like if they aren’t playing Wrestlemania with the basketball & defender then they aren’t playing their game. Corner 3 gets you paid just turn on your TV.

If the only way you impact a game is by scoring then you’re not good at basketball. You’re just good at scoring. If you have an A in Math, but an F in History & English that means you’re not a good student. You’re just good at Math. Only guys that value winning will understand.

Get to practice 30 minutes early this week & get a workout in. Only work on skills that you are absolutely terrible at. Stay after practice for 30 minutes & work on the skill you are elite at. Watch film to take a dive into your defense all week. Easy way to get better this week!

Run to the corner not the wing. Rebound out of your area instead of waiting for the ball to find you. Talk on defense not just when you’re open. Play hard rather you’re scoring or not. Get your nose dirty instead of spectating. All of this is equivalent to averaging 20 PPG.

This isn’t confusing. College coaches want to win. They’re going to play the guys that want to win the most. The guys that want to win the most do what the coach tells them to do. The coach will only tell you to do things that he thinks will help him win. WINNING keeps his job.

Guys love to act fake mad after a loss. Don’t try to fake care once the game is over. You had decisions to make during the game & you decided to choose the loser route. Guys know when they aren’t playing hard. Guys know when they aren’t making winning plays.

If you schedule your workouts around what’s going on in your life then you hustling wrong. You better schedule your life around your workouts. I hear too many players say they can’t workout because they got something else to do. You guys better figure it out fast!

2022 Jaxon Kohler 6’10 Southern California Academy (Michigan St. Commit) can score in a variety of ways. The kid is one of the best isolation players I have seen & coached. He demanded a double team every game this year & we played a national schedule. @jaxonkohler #JuVSandbox 🤞🏽

I feel like I need to say this… just because you’re ranked doesn’t mean you’re 100% going to the NBA. Slow your roll & have some humility. Be proud & confident, but not disrespectful & comfortable. I’ve played with some HIGH level guys that never got their name called. Lock in!

You have to be a sick parent to allow your kid to play the blame game. We have ADULT MEN that are 40+ years old that allow their SON to come home & blame their coach, teammates, play calls, etc on why they can’t get the job done. Both the parent & kid should become lawyers.

How do some parents have the audacity & confidence to talk basketball with a BASKETBALL COACH? It’s unreal to me. I couldn’t imagine pretending to be an expert in golf with actual golf coaches. Maybe I could fake it with people not in the golf world, but not with an actual coach.

People think it’s so cool to play Point Guard. Just because you dribble to half court doesn’t make you a PG. I don’t think guys understand the type of personality you must have to be a POINT GUARD. Being a cry baby & making excuses automatically eliminates you from being a PG!

Adults need to stop allowing these kids to feel sorry for themselves every time something doesn’t go their way. It’s not the coaches fault, it’s your fault. Put your hard hat on & get it out the mud. Stop listening to emotional advice. The blame game is going to get you ran over.

A college coach will recruit a child for months or even years & lie the entire way. You’re a sick person if you lie to a kid. You’re a fraud if you lie, period. The sickest is when they come to the home for home visit & sit there & straight up lie. You are 40+ lying to children!

Playing time doesn’t dictate how much the coach likes you. Playing time has to do with one thing - WINNING! The guys that coach puts on the floor are the guys coach trusts the most to get the job done & win. Again liking “you” is a different thing than liking “your game.”

Players complaining about shots & touches, but won’t go grab it off the rim. Go rebound or guard somebody before you start talking about shots. Those 3 extra FGAs you would of got don’t dictate the player you are. Leave the cry baby talk & politics for somebody that care.

I wake up every morning & get on my knees to talk to The Lord. I’m so thankful for the blessings & relationship with God. I hit my knees before I go to sleep to give thanks & ask for forgiveness. Stay in prayer. God is good & REAL! No cap!

Parents will find every excuse for their kid not playing well. They’ll think of the most craziest things. They refuse to hold their kid accountable. It’s okay to have to get better. There’s nothing wrong with your kid not playing well & having to get better. Development is okay.

Great seeing Alabama HC Nate Oats & his crew today as they prepare for their Sweet 16 match up this week. @nate_oats checks a ton of boxes when you talk about being an elite Head Coach. ACs Preston Murphy, Austin Claunch, & Ryan Pannone are also as elite as they come.
