is “anti-men” there is a whole second storyline and song surrounding co-lead Ryan Gosling about how Ken doesn’t feel good enough and lacks an identity and purpose. It’s a universal tale on the ridiculous expectations set for humanity.

is a cathartic experience reminding us of all the expectations of society that burden women daily and then our sadness comes to life with a moment of tearful release scored by Billie Eilish
All jokes aside, the Giamatti/Murphy standoff for Best Actor could not be better, two great actors delivering such subtle, nuanced performances with their lifelong director collaborations.
Justine Triet reconstructed the “courtroom drama” to not solve the case but to explore how one bad moment can define an entire life and a relationship. Anatomy of a Fall is a complicated narrative, but embraces all shades of being human for an exhilarating watch.
The Andrea Riseborough nomination tells me that this entire time the actor’s branch had the potential to award hidden gem performances and this is the first time they decided to do that……
Over the last year we’ve seen a lot of franchise films get both favorable critic and audience scores. Critics can enjoy a fun movie that’s made with a lot of passion. Sometimes a movie made to promote a theme park expansion doesn’t work for everyone.
Watching La La Land after Babylon is so fascinating in the two distinct ways Damien Chazelle presents LA. One is ultra sanitized and the other is pure filth; almost like a before and after his Oscar win
Zac Efron needs an Oscar nom for The Iron Claw because he plays Kevin Von Erich so specific through pain and is absolutely superb to watch someone from your childhood literally transform into the best performance of their career.
It’s hard to believe Monkey Man is Dev Patel’s directorial debut because he puts everything he has to craft an emotionally consuming revenge epic that beautifully honors Indian cinema while critiquing corrupt institutions. A stunner.
Louis Partridge, Charlie Rowe, Patsy Ferran, Patrick Wilson, Jim Broadbent, Jamie Demetriou, Lars Eidnger, Grace Edwards, Thaddea Graham, Josh Hamilton, Eve Hewson, Stacy Keach, Nicôle Lecky, Emily Mortimer, Alba Rohrwacher and Kyle Soller join George Clooney, Adam Sandler, Laura
In a year with Challengers and La Chimera, Josh O'Connor is one of the best working actors right now. Incredible range whether playing a lost antiquated soul or a smug tennis star he is captivating and transformative, the fact he plays both these roles is insane.
Imagine if the white women of Hollywood pushed and rallied behind “She Said” , “ Holy Spider”, “Women Talking” , “ The Woman King” , “Till” or “Saint Omer” as much as they did “To Leslie”
For the millionth time: RRR was ineligible for Best International feature because India didn’t choose it as its submission therefore it is not a snub in that category.
I got to talk to the Oppenheimer makeup team and we spent 20 minutes just talking about this young Cillian look, because surprisingly no one had asked them about it yet. Interview coming soon🤍
Eternal Sunshine is really a major sneak peak at what Ariana Grande does for her Glinda voice in Wicked, the years of dedication evoke immediate chills and tears when she sings one note.
I’m in awe that Patrick Dempsey did all his own driving in Ferrari, it really adds to the authenticity of the racing sequences and speaks to Michael Mann’s precision as a director.
The Menu, Triangle of Sadness, and Glass Onion are all satires that target the super wealthy. Each film has its own unique approach on examining class structures and putting its subjects through the ringer whether that be vomit sequences or stranding them on a remote island.
Hypnotized by Cillian Murphy’s piercing blue eyes,
#Oppenheimer
plunges you into a horrific, neurotic echo chamber of morality supported by a claustrophobic soundscape and trembling imagery. Never has there been a more immersive theatrical experience.
In a perfect world, May December’s cinematography would be a major contender with a dense layer of humidity on the camera you want to wipe creating a distinct twilight atmosphere where something always feels off as we question normalcy and our characters’ morals are murky.
I need the Oppenheimer awards team to realize that Josh Hartnett is THE supporting actor to push; he literally has the a similar narrative as the one being pushed and a far better role and performance in the story of Oppie. Would be one of the best nominations of all time.
John M. Chu breaks into tears talking about how important casting Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as Glinda and Elphaba as "the ideal pairing"
#CinemaCon
The new trailer of Wicked shows new snippets of Popular and Defying gravity with an emphasis of the complicated relationship between Glinda and Elphaba, the full scale this movie manages to capture is chilling and so beautiful and PURE MAGIC.
#CinemaCon
Tonight’s episode of Succession starting and ending with Kendall and Roman each separately listening to audio of their father insulting them which is the thing that actually motivates them instead of love.
The massive scale and practicality of these sets, Jon M. Chu is bringing Oz to life in the most magical way cementing the decade along journey of bringing Wicked to the big screen💚🫧🩷
