@unusual_whales This is not accurate. The 'ban' is just a political publicity stunt. Read the exceptions. The loopholes are huge and 95% of current foreign buyers are unaffected. And if foreign buyers are not smart enough to use the well publicized loopholes the fine is just 10,000$.

We are turning residential housing into commercial hotels. This should be banned. Our leaders are failing us and many are probably on the take? We should ask every Canadian politician at every level of government to disclose financial interests (including rentals and AirB&B).

@DrewCDonaldson Rates are actually reasonable from a historic standpoint. When a RE bubble pops it’s really hard to blow it back up and especially so if the biggest economy in the world is your next door neighbour and keeps rates H4L. And why would our central bank lower rates? Economic pain.

I see hard working single moms terrified of ending up homeless with their kids. Even people with relatively well paying jobs are being priced out (100km out) of their work areas. Housing is not steak.

@d_demelis Many of those ‘above 30 year mortgages’ are infinity mortgages as they have a negative amortization. Principal gets added and just get bigger and bigger with time. Basically the worst kind of rental. BoC keeping rates steady because of this will have unintended consequences.
