Sure it doesn't look as nice but your computer will thank you and it is way easier to access the advanced settings which you WILL need to touch at some point.

The most important part to me is how messages smoothly scroll in & out. I would love if more stream chats worked like that.

Probably 80% of VTubers I watch have their volume set _way_ too low, to the point that I have to crank the volume to near 200% just so they sound normal.
Your mic should be consistently in the yellow area in OBS and BGM/game audio should be high-green.
if u tell a vtuber when their audio is too quiet you’re automatically attractive

Large streamers rebroadcasting shows without the rights is bad for all of Twitch, *especially* smaller streamers.
And there's no need to! Just stream your reaction with a timer of what episode you're on and how far in so others can sync with you! Or use the Watch Party feature!

How long until a VTuber thinks the "you're allowed to draw nude art" clause means they're allowed to make their vtuber nude and gets banned?
FYI the linked docs explicitly calls out VTubers needing to have their model follow normal flesh-tuber standards
We’ve gotten feedback that our policies around sexual content are unclear so we’ve drawn clearer boundaries between what is & isn’t permitted on Twitch.
We also recognize that not everyone wants to see certain content, so we’re updating our criteria for homepage recommendations.

This is amusingly the exact _opposite_ of the truth. When you start a stream it takes 15-30min for the Twitch notification & go-live tweet to reach your audience and ~90min for viewership to stabilize
A Starting Soon screen for 5-15min is fine. If you're worried, add a countdown
another vtuber/streaming tip from your catpai:
if you sit on a starting soon screen for 5+ minutes, you weren't ready to go live yet. avoid having long stretches or BRBs without engaging your viewers, it's boring from the perspective of your fans. 1/2

Hosts are a feature Twitch added in 2014 that lets a streamer showcase another stream on their channel while they're offline. Chats remain separated and most of the UI remains about the primary channel, with a few elements indicating that this is a host and who is being hosted.

It doesn't matter if they are raid viewers, host viewers, twitter viewers or tiktok viewers. Just focus on your content and being entertaining enough that they want to follow and come back, and you'll get partner eventually. Many people take 3-5 years to get partner, it is ok!

This is not true.
You can mute the stream and count as a viewer.
The rumor stems from a Chrome experiment a few years back where Chrome would pause muted & non-visible tabs.

I have seen people say Hosts is better than Raids because "host viewers count towards partnership and raid viewers don't". To my knowledge this is not true, Host viewers also do not count.

This is intentional! When we launched Hosting we were very concerned about abuse and hate. We didn't have enough site moderators to deal with it if things went badly, so keeping chat separated helped ensure you couldn't "hate host" another channel.

Because joining a room is by a simple room code, any slip up by a streamer can give their audience any models in the room. There is no permission system or verification. When you join a room you also don't know who else will be in there, which can be a problem.

While it is true that raid viewers "don't count" towards getting partnership, removing referrer=raid won't help. We know who is watching a stream and who that stream raids regardless. All you're doing by asking people to refresh is giving a viewer an opportunity to stop watching.

Less of a concern is that the tool uses the Live2D JS SDK, so they're going to have problems going over 4 people in a collab. I tried it in the past - the JS SDK is just too poorly written to handle many models at once.
Oh, they're also in violation of the Live2D license.

By this point our Trust & Safety team was much better equipped and we'd built more anti-abuse tools. Fairly quickly Raids became the way people ended their streams, and Hosting was for endorsing channels for people who visited your channel while you're offline.

So now in 2022 Hosting is only for keeping the offline channel page from being empty and sending a trickle of potential viewers to someone you endorse, but at the cost of confusing users. With Recommendations and other ways to show endorsement, there's no reason to keep Hosts.

As for watching large events in a quieter space, Twitch began offering Co-streaming permissions for many large streams so that streamers could re-stream it with their own commentary, which is a much better way to handle the use case. It is more entertaining and less confusing.

Block every account that sends an ad.
It's that easy. See an ad? Click the ... and block the account. Do it enough and Twitter runs out of ads to give you
