We just had a two time State Champion Coach run off by a bunch of idiotic parents and administration. Let me tell all you entitled Koo Koo's something. Good Coaches are getting out of this BS.
Nobody wants to deal with entitled bunch of brats called Parents anymore.
I just watched a LHP 84-88 with command and control totally dominate a team that had scored 30 runs in their last 3 games. I bet this kid didn't get 1 P5 offer. Too many people are velocity hungry and not winning hungry. Just my opinion. Better find some winners that have command
I have been to quite a few HS games this season probably 50 or so. The taunting back and forth is non-sense. You can tell immediately the teams where the HC has control of the operation and where the players run the show. I love competitive teams without the non-sense!
1st question I am getting from College Coaches. I need guys that hate to lose. We have a big time problem folks. We are not training guys to hate to lose. It is showing up in every college game. It's a serious issue. The non competition atmosphere in Summer and in Youth baseball
We need 35 Scholarships for DI Baseball and 20 for DII.
@NCAABaseball
is not a serious model. Its outdated! We can pay players 5-6 figures with NIL, Pay Coaches 10 Mill a yr but cannot take care of every athlete on campus. ABSURD.
People say just go play JUCO. You realize this is probably the most mentally challenging arena? 50-80 kids, 2 coaches, limited reps, limited space to train. You better be a tough SOB to just roll into a JC and play
@MLB
Pleases Stop. How about celebrating the hard working people in your cities who buy tickets to come see the teams play and stop shoving nonsense down our throats. This is not community pride. This is nonsense. People would like to bring their kids to the game without the
MLB pours money into the DR in hopes of developing new talent at low cost via signings. What if the MLB poured money into the JUCO system like that to fund 24 scholarships and help pay coaches who make peanuts. Think of the impact that would have on development.
Let’s be clear because I think we are getting way lost in baseball. Just because a guy can run a 60, throw well in a showcase and hit bp doesn’t mean he cam play in the freaking game. It’s amazing the recruiting misses I’m seeing because nobody wants to go grind out watching gms
Notice how many college coaches are staying home this summer? People Complaining about no scouts at their games. Because you have watered down the talent so much that nobody wants to see bad baseball. Too many teams, talent scattered all over the place 1-2 at a time, impossible
Hey college coaches you know why the NCAA transfer portal has 1500 players? Because you committed Johnny All Star who played for 5 travel teams in 5 years. You dudes better wake up it’s coming, your all gonna all be 1 and done if the trend continues. Better get the right guys
Look at the HS programs that win. The Head Coach has full autonomy over the program. It's the method that works. Administration backs the guy and the boosters provide fuel. He hires a good staff, has facilities and is able to run the program efficiently.
Perfect example of guys sitting around in a pitching guru lab for a year. Guy has videos 95mph his JUCO played 28 innings this weekend he pitched ZERO innings. Guys you have to learn to compete. Throwing balls into a net is like hitting golf balls on the range. It ain't real.
As far as College Baseball is concerned they should have the Power 6 The Sunbelt Conference is good enough in fact I will take them over the Big Ten as a group all day.
Madison Bumgarner was ready to quit and go home when he was in Low A here in Augusta. He left the team and went back to Hickory NC. He got home and his dad turned him around and told him to get ur ass back to Augusta. The rest is history. Dad’s we need you to be that guy!
One of the problems at HS level is guys are afraid to coach hard because there is going to be a posse lined up at the Principals door to get you fired. Plus, the pay stinks for the amount of work they have to do and parents have become very unrealistic. We overvalue our kids
Coaches if you allow your team to bark at opponents on homers and strikeouts like we’ve seen all year in college baseball then YOU are the problem. Get control of your team its 100% your responsibility. It’s a disgrace to the game what we view every single damn week.
If you’re out recruiting put your radar gun down, leave ur stop watch at home & ur I pad. Find the toughest SOB on the field and sign him. You’ll kick everyones ass night after night
#Truth
some people are learning this the hard way. 🤣😂😂
Two of the best players I ever had the opportunity to coach had ZERO NCAA offers. They both went to Junior College and ended up MLB All Stars. This early commitment stuff is just a hype job to make everyone feel good. 50% or more will never play a game in that uniform they commit
You can take 80% of the teams in the WWBA and PBR National and not beat a good high school team. We need to do better as an industry. Either cut down the field or break the field up into competitive divisions. I go to these games and leave shaking my head.
If I were czar of college baseball Do away with NCAA, start season late march through with CWS mid July, 45 man roster and add 15 games to 70 game season. 35 scholarships DI,20 DII. Cannot offer below HS JR, Better weather better crowd’s create a college baseball tv network, 5
For years I have heard College Coaches talk about the "Money Grab" Travel Baseball. There's no bigger money grab in America than 50K Tuition to play on a JV team with 50-70 others with one Grad Asst Coach. It should be criminal to have these kids take out loans to play on a JV.
Here’s how the college baseball landscape will continue to look like 10-12 teams will out spend everyone and win the title each year.
Unless your school is willing to put up 4-5 million you have zero shot
@michael_schlact
There’s no respect, no restraint no filter because we don’t hold anyone accountable it’s a do what u want world with zero repercussions
Why should a college baseball coach be even asked to volunteer? In no business do employees volunteer their services. This is called taking advantage of young coaches who are trying to get started in the profession and the leaders of these institutions should be ashamed.
If you throw 80mph run 7.3 and can’t hit balls out of the park. Tell me exactly what perfect game or any other showcase can do for you? Truth ZERO! Get better then go hard after what’s yours. They are just feeding you candy. Go to work build the machine then let it eat
A decade ago programs that had 75 players in their HS program have 35 now. We as a baseball community have our head in the sand. Talent has trended down, numbers have trended down the last 4-5 seasons. We have many issues to address.
Division I college baseball starts tomorrow. It’s going to be another year of super old rosters. You will see some really tough mid major clubs a lot of velocity on every team with roller coaster rides on command lots of hrs lots of ks. Deepest pitching staff wins. Position guys
What the
@NCAABaseball
has done is eliminated hope for those that cannot pay players. They have no shot. In coming years only teams with paid players will advance to Omaha. When you eliminate hope you eliminate interest which in turn puts these teams in a poor position to
Every Mid Major, DII, DIII NAIA and NJCAA program better be watching what is being proposed in Senate. If athletes become employees of the institution and have to have paid benefits. Sports will be dropped
guys, I went to a hs game tonight to check out some players. Listen, the screaming and taunting every time you make a routine play or get on base is lame. Tonight one of the catchers would run 5 steps screaming up the line on strike 3. It was bush league at best. Respect the game
I absolutely hope every major league player refuses to wear these rainbow jerseys. I could care less what you do at home but do not bring that nonsense to the ballpark where people want to eat a hot dog, drink a beer and sing take me out to the ballpark. There is no place for

Are you starting to get the picture?
If you are an NCAA DI coach and you are calling DII kids that had good seasons trying to get them to transfer, then you should resign immediately. Terrible acts of zero scruples and character. We are better than this as an industry.
If you're a college president and you have a baseball team with 70 players, 1 batting cage shared with another sport and a weight room that holds 20 people. You need to get off your ass and raise some money and do it right or keep the roster at 30. Stop cheating the kids
Some the best College pitchers I saw last year were 88-91 with 3 pitches that could command the ball. Some of the worst I saw were 92-5 with scattered command and stayed in jams every inning. College is not the MLB and you can win games big time with guys that command the ball.
Oklahoma has 10-12 juco kids on their roster and Ole Miss 9-10. The reason why? Many of the high school kids they committed didn’t pan out so they needed immediate help. Kids you better understand how damn tough it is and do everything in your power to be physically ready
I really think we need to go to wood bats in D1. These 20 plus run games take forever to play and just wear out pitching staffs over the course of the season. Yesterday FSU/GT was grueling to watch.
If you are coaching a Mid Major or DII life is miserable. You get guys ready, they make All American or All Conference and poof they gone. This entire College Baseball system absolutely Sucks.
This guy was humble enough to come to us from the University of Tennessee to work on his game because he had bigger dreams. You see it doesn't matter where you start but how you finish. We have proven you can get there from here! He landed in a NCAA Regional year 1
#getontheSHIP
Floridas best pitcher was at Southern Miss last year. LSUs best came from Air Force Tennessee’s best Georgia Southern. Maybe they should have to compensate the team that they poached? I think that’s fair. 100k ? Should be about right
The
@SunBelt
has passed the Big Ten in Baseball. The Sun Belt is a much deeper league as you saw with Coastal sweeping Michigan and Troy taking 2 of 3 from Indiana
It's unbelievable the ignorance level of some folks. A kid is looking for help to play in college with a 70 MPH fastball and people are saying go JUCO. Have any of these people seen JUCO? There is so much terrible information on Social Media it's like killing ants on a sugar cane
Think about the box high school players are being put into. A. Go Battle with 22 year old transfers
B. Go tryout on a 50-60 man roster
C. Go to some JV just to play (club team)
Baseball is building a great case to play other sports. We gotta do better folks
The travel baseball product is the worst I have ever seen in my career. There are some really talented teams and then a vast majority that stink. These tournament organizers need cut back the fields and only take quality teams in these so called National events. It's painstaking
Travel ball is now college ball. A Few guys play free, most guys pay a lot, kid sucks he gone, team sucks start bringing in guest players, kid not happy he leaves, if you don’t win everyone quits, gear is king. Sort of sums it up 🤔
If I’m a college Head Coach I’m hiring a veteran MLB scout to do recruiting they understand future projection better than the vast majority of college coaches they have strong opinions and won’t be influenced by PG rankings and popularity contest.
The hardest job in college coaching is not teaching hitting throwing or catching. It's getting 35 players to actually care about each other enough to put the team first. The other stuff is easy
#team
The University of North Georgia does recruiting in baseball at the top of the spectrum.
@TCPuma11
doesn’t bring in too many players, they develop players and people. They have facilities,staff, gear, and transportation among the best of any level. They win ball games get degrees
To win the WWBA your team needs to play 13 games in 8 days. A College team can't do it, a Pro Team can't do it but they expect 13,14,15,16,17 year olds to do it and to top it off these teams run in their with 14 man rosters. And we complain about arm problems.
In 2001 the East Cobb Yankees had 9 Big Leaguers in their Summer Lineup. Florida bombers had 6, Ohio War Hawks had a team full of draft picks. We had 3 Big Leaguers and 8 other drafts and were the underdog every weekend. That's what travel baseball is supposed to look like.
Growing up as a kid we never called sports a grind. Hell we got up went outside and played ball all day. I shot a million basketballs as a kid. Played a million baseball games. It wasn't a grind. Cutting the grass and picking tobacco was a grind.
Let's do some research how many guys that Perfect Game and PBR touted as best of best are in the transfer portal or no longer at the original school they signed. The smoke they blow has made them unable to see clearly.
Just so you HS guys know: This is a post graduate school lineup
RF 6-1 210
CF 6-3 185
LF 6-1 215
1B 6-4 220
2B 5-8 195
SS 6ft 185
3B 6ft 1 195
C 5-10 185
Nobody in the lineup under 185 these guys were looking for homes. Also all of them ran 7.0 or better the CF 6.5
This transfer portal is our own fault. Guys getting committed in 9th grade don't pan out and get gone. Nobody wants to earn it because our industry became the give it league. We gave too much too early and created a soft as heck platform. So now we get to live with this nonsense
Go to any College or High School playoff game and tell me winning isn't important. So why do we invest so little time on developing a winning mindset in our youth? Lot of people have this stuff all wrong. Whether you lose a game or win a game you have to develop competitive
All u mid major guys jumping ship, don't cry when that grass turns brown. Some of these schools put you on the field and gave you a shot. Have a bad weekend and you will get buried at the next stop.
Mid major coaches have to coach their asses off to compete. They develop some dude and here comes johnny hot shot from a P5 a recruits his player. It’s horseshit and then the same P5 coach is at a clinic talking ethics and culture
Call me crazy but I’m not buying the BS
Coastal Carolina finished 7th in the
@SunBelt
they won a play in game and then lost 2 in tournament. They sit home 25 games to open the season. How in the heck can you look
@CofCBaseball
and Lamar in the eye and keep them out. Both 40 plus game winners.
I coached a player a few years ago. He was barely recruited out of high school. He was an exceptional mentally tough kid. He signed with
@SouthernMissBSB
and became NCAA player of the year. Was drafted by the Indians and in 2 years he made the MLB. Never Underestimate MT!
Somebody please make sense of the 50-60 man Juco roster? I am having real trouble understanding how a 2-3 man staff can run player development of this number or maybe we just forget about getting better and just please some administrators. I am confused
#dowaybetterfolks
11 DII, DIII and NAIA combined players taken out of over 600 draft picks.
I remember when the Peach Belt Conference alone would have 11.
Getting drafted from these levels has become harder than ever. Front offices do not want to scout these levels.
Florida NJCAA has the best set up to gain ample playing time. It's a 26 man roster, 20 fall games, 50 Spring. If you are good enough to play on one of those rosters it's the best deal going.
If you are not a mentally tough SOB and have a warrior mentality. You will 100% not survive in baseball. It's a fact. Baseball players have to over come failure a dozen times a day. Those that figure it out excel those that don't go home.
No way Shohei Ohtani did not know 4.5 million dollars was wired from his accounts. MLB will sweep this under the rug and continue to ban Pete Rose. Watch it play out.
The NCAA just granted a QB a 7th year of eligibility. Who the hell is leading college sports in America? Got to be the biggest bunch of dumb asses in history.
I have not coached 1 Pro player that needed justification by PG to say they are good. The way they play says it. All u kids wasting 1000's going to these events would be better off investing in your body. End of Discussion.
Each MLB team puts 1 Million plus into development in the DR yearly. What if this 30 Million Dollars was spent in the USA on Amateur Player Development? I think you would see some dramatic results.
Kids are coming out of high school not mentally prepared for a college baseball. It’s 💯 different routine, time demands, class loads, competition and a schedule that is twice the number of games. Come spend a year preparing your career Visit us today
I get all the time, "this kid can play DII" I'm like really? Have you seen Tampa, Columbus State, North Georgia, North Greenville and others play? always no. Then how the hell can you say that.
Everyone seems shocked that kids are acting like fools in college games. They have been doing it their entire lives. It's what happens when you have ZERO discipline at 12-18. It's cute then and in college is embarrassing. College coaches cannot change 10 years of habits in 4.
I never understood why you play all season and have a conference champ and the team that wins a 3 day tournament goes to the NCAAs in these 1 bid leagues. Does not seem logical
Here’s the reason kids are poo pooing DII DIII NAIA now even JC because the MLB has made it obvious that they are not going to spend time scouting and actively draft and sign any significant number of players from these leagues. The MLB is DI or bust so are the kids
Old school scouts were really good at feel. They had an innate ability to see a guy, talk to him a few times and get a great read on his ability to make it. Today it’s a lost art. If the metrics don’t fit they are lost. More misses today on top round picks than ever
So it's June 27th 2022. There's over 2,000 players in the NCAA Portal. This doesn't include JC guys, NAIA guys and HS uncommitted guys. Is college baseball ready for 3,000 walk on's ??? Gonna be some rude awakenings come Mid August.
If I am Alabama I call Jack Leggett ask him to give me 4-5 years and have him hand pick his successor bring him too. Leggett will stabilize Alabama and bring instant credibility to the program and he's one hell of a coach.
Perfect Game had at least 20 high school kids run 10 yard splits faster than anyone in the history of the NFL combine. Just sit back and think about that one. Then travel ball team xyz puts that all over the web. People who actually go watch the games are just shaking their heads
I have been watching, observing, scouting, coaching, recruiting baseball in my state since 1993. I watched my father coach in the 1970s and played in the 1980s. I remember no grass on infields at most hs parks. We have more knowledge today than ever. I think we are missing
I just saw a JC coach asking for a hitter with 90 plus Exit velocity let’s try asking for a guy that can actually hit! Wouldn’t that be the proper question?
#geez
All of these Travel teams are forming HS teams in metro Atl & other places
Players one word of advice
10,20,30,40 years from now playing for your school & representing your community will mean so much more to you. I played HS sports 40 yrs ago & they are my fondest memories
Welcome Allen Cox to the Ship. Allen will be our new Head Coach and Asst GM in Myrtle Beach SC. Coach Cox has a great baseball background in NCAA NAIA and International baseball. Welcome aboard!
#getontheship
My question is why have we all of a sudden stopped practicing sportsmanship. Every game it seems turns into some jawing deal. Kids acting like idiots coaches not taking charge of their team. It’s time some folks decide to be leaders instead of being a facilitator to the nonsense.
Where is Driveline and all the other throwing gurus as we just watch arm after arm go down? The money is in velocity not injury prevention. These dudes all know maxing out increases chances of major injury. They ALL Know. They still sell velocity because it's what sells.
PBR, PG, college camps and everyone else would be out of business if not for bad players. There are not enough good players to fill up these events. Why do bad players go? Because they get horrible advice and buy into the hype. Put 90% of your money into your body and skill.
We have a serious disconnect right now between what kids think it takes and what it really takes to be a good college player right now. We as an industry need to do better. We are doing a pretty lousy job prepping these guys for reality.
I don't see why anyone wants to coach college sports anymore. Just tonight I have seen 2 kids decommit because they made "Jumps". The guy that busted his ass to find you gets hosed and you end up going some place that you will probably not play anytime soon. This entire deal BS
You know what sucks in the Transfer World. The Mid-Major Coach who took a chance on a raw prospect. The kid develops and bolts to the SEC and they brag about how they signed a top prospect. In reality they are nothing but kings of prostitution paying out the most money. SAD.
Parents, if you want your kid to play at a nice college then put your money into skill development and strength. Once he has those turn on the exposure. We are doing things absolutely backwards. I only want travel teams so that we can practice and train. The games are just test.
Look at how bad some of the farm systems in the MLB are right now. 20 rounds gives your zero room for error. Trust me there are a ton of errors when it comes to projecting kids futures. There is a big leaguer sitting at some random college out there and these front office gurus
Parkview, Pope, Loganville for the last decade these teams seem to always be in the mix to win it all. Loganville 7 Consecutive finals, Pope 6 of 7, Parkview 5 Titles since 2011. Culture, community support, discipline, leadership. You can win anywhere with the right people.
