Nadia Nadim fled Afghanistan at 11 after her father was killed by the Taliban. She relocated to Denmark and has represented them 99 times in soccer. She’s played for PSG & Man City. She speaks 11 languages and is now a qualified doctor. You are such an inspiration, Nadia!👏
A great example to all young athletes out there, regardless of what sport you play. If multiple Grand Slam Champion
@RafaelNadal
can clean his own court after him, then you can clean your training area up afterwards too. It’s called humility & respect.
Anyone notice what happened in “The Last Dance” documentary when MJ was cut from the varsity team in 10th grade? His mom told him to work harder. Notice that she didn’t call the coach, athletic director or superintendent to complain.

70% of kids quit sports before the age of 14! Why? Because in most cases kids don’t quit because they dislike sports, they quit because they dislike the judgement and pressure applied on them from coaches & parents. it’s no longer fun. Remember it’s about them them, not us!
Athletes; enjoy every single moment while you still can. One day you won’t have the locker room banter, ride in the team bus or share meals with the squad. One day it will all be over & you won’t get to do it again. Cherish every single moment and be grateful for the opportunity.

Being a coach or teacher isn’t easy. You work longer hours than you get paid for. You get judged & criticized by people who aren’t even qualified or in the know. You at times get blamed for poor results, but still keep optimistic & excited about what you do—RESPECT!

Culture doesnt change when a coach tells a player he or she is wrong.
Culture changes when players can tell their teammates, "No, that’s not how we do things around here."
In great teams, it’s the players who take charge of the culture.
It costs $0 to say “hello” to someone
It costs $0 to hold a door for someone
It costs $0 to lend a helping hand
It costs $0 to be kind
It costs $0 to be positive
It costs $0 to say please
It costs $0 to tell someone you appreciate them
It costs $0 to be a GOOD PERSON!
Contrary to belief, coaches DO have their favorites. They are players who:
- arrive early
- come prepared
- bring a great energy
- listen and want to learn
- encourage their teammates
- don’t complain
- do the extra work
- stay grateful
FEEDBACK: The difference between the Uncoachable vs Coachable
Uncoachable players:
Take it personally
Feel they’re being picked on
Become defensive
Coachable players:
Are open to it
want to be coached
See it as an opportunity to get better
Parents; stepping in every time to ‘help’ or ‘defend’ your kid, only robs them of the opportunity to build grit, courage & accountability. Their odds of success later in life increase when you step back and allow them to deal with some of life’s hard knocks & challenges.
Difference between Coachable & Uncoachable Players when it comes to FEEDBACK:
Uncoachable:
- Take it personally
- Are closed-minded
- Become defensive
- Let ego get in the way
Coachable:
- Are open to it
- Want to learn
- Ask for advice
- See it as opportunity to improve
KOBE BRYANT’S 10 RULES:

In my experience, the most coachable & teachable athletes always came from homes where solid values were instilled & where discipline & respect was high. I could always tell what I was getting just by seeing how the kid spoke to his or her parents. All starts in the home!
