Uganda confirms an outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Mubende District, Uganda.   The confirmed case is a 24 year old male a resident Ngabano village of Madudu Sub County in Mubende District presented with EVD symptoms and later succumbed.

A team of doctors at Entebbe Grade B hopsital delivered a baby boy by Emergency C-Section today at 12:45am. The mother arrived on Friday from Dubai, UAE and was under quarantine. Both baby and mother are doing well. Immense appreciation to the team of frontline health workers.

Uganda has confirmed 7 cases of the Omicron variant. 5 of these arrived from Nigeria while 2 arrived from South Africa. This was confirmed by the genomic surveillance that we have been carrying out at the various points of entry and among the general population.

The @GovUganda Central Public Health Laboratory (CPHL) has received 15,000 COVID-19 test kits for the cobas 8800, a real time PCR machine. The cobas 8800 has the capacity of running 3,000 tests per day and about 192 tests per hour. Testing for COVID-19 at CPHL starts today.
